Luton’s Teton Cabins is located in Moran, Wyoming, 35 miles from Jackson and 32 miles from Yellowstone South Entrance; both popular destinations for our guests.  Before you scrap your plans, check the weather at those locations as it may be different.   It may be possible to rearrange your itinerary.  Here are some weather links:

It’s raining there too!

One option, though maybe not the most popular, is to continue with your plans – but gear up!

There are many places in the area that sell rain gear.  Most visitor’s centers, sporting goods stores and K-Mart have umbrellas and rain coats for sale.  Unless there is lightning, most activities will still take place.

Grand Teton National Park has six visitor’s centers.  Most notable are Colter Bay Visitor Center, Jenny Lake Visitor Area,  Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve and Craig Thomas Visitor Center.

You can watch park movies, listen to ranger talks, plan your next adventure, work on your Junior Ranger badge (yes adults can play too), examine the different displays or visit the gift shops. For up-to-date schedule of events view the Park Newspaper or Park Calendar.

Jackson is a great place to visit in the rain.  The stores around the town square have covered wooden sidewalks – you can shop all day and not get wet! Don’t forget the ‘used’ stores where you can get great bargains: Browse n’ Buy or Forget Me Not Thrift Shop. There are many restaurants, wineries, breweries, galleries and even a few museums: Jackson Hole History Museum, National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Hole Children’s Museum.

Go swimming!  Teton Parks and Recreation has an Aquatic Center that is open to the public.

Go bowling at the Hole Bowl.

Watch a movie at Jackson Hole Cinemas or see a play at The Jackson Hole Playhouse.

Enjoy a chuck wagon dinner.  Both the Bar J and the Bar-T-5 are under cover so you can still enjoy the show no matter what the weather is doing outside.

Sit on your front porch at Luton’s Teton Cabins and enjoy the show.

Think of this list as a starting point.  You’ve most likely planned this trip for a very long time.  Don’t let the rain stop you from having a great time.
