An icon of the West, the Snake River stretches across the foot of the Teton Mountains and through the valley. The 10-mile scenic float offers breathtaking views of the mountains, not to mention bald eagles, moose, otters, beavers and a whole host of other "locals." Seeking an adrenaline rush? Whitewater trips cover class 3 rapids through the Snake River Canyon. Just plan to get wet.

Jackson Hole is a destination for anglers of every level. The valley's lakes and rivers are fed by runoff from the surrounding mountains. Generally, the Snake River and Buffalo Fork "turn on" for trout fishing in mid-July and fish well through September, while smaller upstream creeks and tributaries become active earlier in the summer.
